Harmanjot Kaur likes eating apples and her favorite color is red. Her father is an alcoholic; whatever he makes, he spends it on liquor. Harman's mother had to take a job in order to bring food to the table. She works as a cleaner at a school earning $50 a month. When she gets home, she works as a cleaner in a few houses in the village. They own the single-room house.
