Harmanpreet Kaur is 10 years old and lives in Amritsar, Punjab. Her favourite colour is pink and she loves to eat mangos and play. Harmanpreet dreams of becoming a teacher someday. She lives with her parents and sister in a small 1 bedroom house, which is falling apart in many areas. Their makeshift kitchen is in their bedroom, and it consists of simply a table and portable stove. Harmanpreet’s father works as a labourer and brings in about $140 CAD/month. Her mother works as a cook in a school and brings in $30 CAD per month. The paternal grandmother has diabetes issues and the medical expenses are on Harmanpreet’s father to pay.
